Restream Setup Guide
Use the same public stream URL that already works in a standalone player.

RTSP RTMP RTMPS HTTP HTTPS

Use a direct source URL. Frontend setup is optimized for the protocols above, while some advanced server configurations may also support additional transport types.

Test the source first
Paste the exact address that already opens successfully in VLC or another player.
Include full access details
If the source requires authentication or a non-standard port, include those details directly in the URL.
Prefer playback-friendly codecs
For best compatibility, configure H.264 or H.265 video with AAC audio when your source device allows it.
Network access checklist
The source must be reachable from the public internet. Local addresses like localhost or 192.168.x.x will not work unless exposed externally.
If the device is behind a router, configure port forwarding.
If the public address changes over time, use Dynamic DNS so the source stays reachable.
